Grant Alerts - June 2, 2016

We are fast approaching the end of the WCPSS fiscal year.  In the world of WCPSS grants, that means that Board approval for the grants listed on our Grant Alerts page expires June 30, 2016.  From July 1 until the first meeting of the Board of Education (probably around the 3rd week of July), NO grants will be Board approved.  It is fine to research, plan, and even write a grant.  However, your grant should not be submitted until we have received Board approval for the opportunity.  If there is a particular grant that you are considering, please let us know by June 30 so that we can make sure it is included on the first Precís of the new fiscal year.

In the meantime, there are some great grant opportunities that are open right now.  Two of them are:

The North Carolina Electric Cooperatives offer Bright Ideas grants of up to $3,000 for innovative classroom projects. Learn more at http://wemc.com/bright-ideas-grants/ , and the deadline is September 13, 2016.

The Wake Electric Classroom Technology grants provide up to $3,000 for  technology equipment for classrooms.  More information can be found at http://wemc.com/class-awards/, and the deadline is September 13, 2016.

Upcoming Deadlines

The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation provides grants of up to $3,000 to purchase library books for schools, and the deadline is May 31.  More information can be found at http://www.loislenskicovey.org/6.html.

The National Education Association Foundation grant deadline is coming up on June 1. Members are invited to apply for funding of up to $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups. Grant Alerts - March 17, 2016

We’ve been having a record setting year for the number of grants submitted by school-based staff—over 600 (and it is just mid-March!). It is wonderful to see your creative ideas for helping our students learn and thrive, and to see so many people taking the initiative write grants. As you and your colleagues receive notification from funders, please let us know by sending us a copy of the award email or letter. We currently have about 130 grants still pending, and we are eager to know whether or not they receive funding.

Grant Alerts - March 3, 2016

Here are a couple of great local grants to be thinking about . . . . WakeEd Partnership's Teacher Innovation Grant WakeEd Partnership’s annual Teacher Innovation Grant period opened February 8, 2016. All WCPSS educators, including specialists, counselors, and other related services professionals, are invited to apply. Grants are awarded in Arts, Entrepreneurship, Literacy, STEM, and Exceptional Children with Autism. Writers workshops will be held March 10 and 22. All proposals must be submitted by May 2.
